  Camp Royal Leadership Camp

Camp Royal is a leadership training program for high school juniors, funded and run by Rotary District 5160.  Founded in 1979, Camp Royal has become one of the top leadership camps for incoming high school seniors in the country.

Moraga Rotary provides two scholarships to Campolindo High School juniors to attend Camp Royal every June.  For more information, contact us, or visit the Camp Royal section at the Rotary District 5160 website, at the link below.

Student leaders from throughout the district attend to develop advanced skills with help from Rotarians, professional counselors, educators and keynote speakers.  And a day in the "Ropes Course" lets students experience team building and successful cooperation.

The program is held mid-June in the Trinity Alps, and is a concentrated, energy packed week of information, ideas and strategies that will help the camper return to his/her school and be a more affective leader.

The Camp's goals are:

  • To offer advanced leadership skills to young men and women who have had experience in leadership positions.
  • To emphasize cooperation, team building, excellent ethics and creativity in leadership.
  • To broaden their knowledge of various vocations through interaction with Rotarians of District 5160.
  • To assist the campers to realize their great potentials, and break through the barriers to success.
  • To actively apply their new leadership skills when they return to school.

  Camp Venture for Business Entrepreneurs

Camp Venture is a  five day training and motivational camp for high school juniors that are interested in pursuing a career in business, particularly as entrepreneurs.  Camp Venture is funded and run by Rotary District 5160, and is held in late June at the Maritime Academy California State University in Vallejo.

Students, sponsored by their local Rotary Clubs, have the opportunity to interact with experienced business people and meet with other students in District 5160 who have similar interests.

Moraga Rotary provides two scholarships to Campolindo High School juniors to attend Camp Venture every June.  For more information, contact us, or visit the Camp Venture section at the Rotary District 5160 website, at the link below.

Campolindo High School Senior Scholarship:

Moraga Rotary provides a $1,000 cash scholarship to a Campolindo senior who meets our qualifications.

Applicants must have at least a 3.0 grade average in "core" subjects and plan to attend college.  They must submit two short essays, not to exceed 250 words, describing your community service activities during the last 3 years, and describing your planned use of financial assistance for college.

The Campolindo counselors will select the 3 most qualified applicants, and Moraga Rotary Club will select the recipient of the scholarship after interviews.  The successful applicant will be chosen on the basis of need and community service.

To apply, print this Application Form, or Contact Us for an application form.

Ambassadorial Scholarships:

Ambassadorial Scholarships, The Rotary Foundation's oldest and best-known program, was founded in 1947.  Since then, nearly 38,000 men and women from about 100 nations have studied abroad under its auspices.  Today it is the world's largest privately funded international scholarships program.  Nearly 800 scholarships were awarded for study in 2005-06.  Through grants totaling approximately US$500 million, recipients from about 70 countries studied in more than 70 nations.

The purpose of the Ambassadorial Scholarships program is to further international understanding and friendly relations among people of different countries and geographical areas.  The program sponsors several types of scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students as well as for qualified professionals pursuing vocational studies. While abroad, scholars serve as goodwill ambassadors to the host country and give presentations about their homelands to Rotary clubs and other groups.  Upon returning home, scholars share with Rotarians and others the experiences that led to a greater understanding of their host country.

Group Study Exchanges:

The Rotary Foundation’s Group Study Exchange (GSE) program is a unique cultural and vocational exchange opportunity for businesspeople and professionals between the ages of 25 and 40 who are in the early stages of their careers.  The program provides travel grants for teams to exchange visits in paired areas of different countries.  For four to six weeks, team members experience the host country's culture and institutions, observe how their vocations are practiced abroad, develop personal and professional relationships, and exchange ideas.

In a typical four-week tour, applicants participate in five full days of vocational visits, 15 to 20 club presentations, 10 to 15 formal visits and social events, two to three days at the district conference, three to four hours per day of cultural and site tours, and three to four hours per day of free time with host families.

For each team member, the Foundation provides the most economical round-trip airline ticket between the home and host countries. Rotarians in the host area provide for meals, lodging, and group travel within their district.
